My first earnings from tutoring funded my gadgets — Walkman, Atari, and eventually an IBM 386. By 14, I was coding and building retail checkout systems for local shops. This also raised some good pocket money for a while.

It started when I noticed the owner of a corner shop near my house struggling with his checkout system when processing customer orders.

Do your employees just perform tasks, or do they share your vision? This question lies at the heart of people strategy.

I’ve seen millions wasted due to misalignment between leadership and workforce. A strong people strategy ensures that your team is not just productive — but purpose-driven.

Over the past 15 years, I’ve worked at the intersection of business and technology strategy. One thing is clear: even the best business strategy can falter if the tech doesn’t support it.

The way that technology is viewed on the strategic canvas, depends on the type of organisation. I have noticed that the more established businesses and traditional organisations with long history tend to view technology as no more than a support function.

I'm not sure when my journey into entrepreneurship began. was it at the age of 14, when I created a retail shop management system for local businesses? Or at the age of 12, when I started taking on tutoring jobs from parents of my own classmates? Or was it the year earlier when I offered to install electrical supply line and lighting in the garden shed for my dad?

Do you study to pass exams, or to truly understand? I’ve always studied to learn — driven by curiosity, not curriculum.

This mindset helped me master subjects outside school, become a tutor at 12, and build a career rooted in knowledge and insight. Studying to pass exams was never my objective and the curious learner in me always wanted to go to great depths to truly understand the subject matter.

People & Business Strategy

Business strategy is one of the most debated topics in corporate circles. Some argue that financials — like profit margins and shareholder value — are the cornerstone. Others point to competition, customer insights, product innovation, or pricing models as the true drivers of strategic success.

But here’s a perspective that often gets overlooked: people are the most important element of business strategy.

Short Intro

Negotiating and landing contracts since the age of 12 — long before learning what contracts were or even realising that I was in negotiations, I have been an entrepreneur, learning and tweaking the art of business and entrepreneurship.
